Bondi Announces Investigation into Trump Rivals and Epstein Connections

This past Friday, the Attorney General assigned interim US attorney Jay Clayton to lead an inquiry into political adversaries of Donald Trump and their links with Jeffrey Epstein. This decision came shortly after Trump ordered her to launch the probe.

During an announcement, the Attorney General highlighted Jay Clayton as “a highly skilled and reliable legal expert”. She stated, “The department will handle this matter promptly and thoroughly to provide clarity for citizens.”

This development appears to contradict a recent memorandum from justice department officials which stated that the Epstein files did not warrant additional investigations. As per the document, authorities “lacked sufficient evidence to pursue cases against other parties.”

Trump Demands Focus on Political Opponents in Epstein Case

This news coincides with increasing pressure from the president on congressional Republicans to resist the full release of files concerning Epstein before an upcoming House vote in the coming days. Several lawmakers are anticipated to back the disclosure.

Recently released emails from Epstein have spotlighted Trump’s past involvement with the sex trafficker, revealing details that his knowledge of Epstein’s behavior exceeded prior admissions.

That same day, the President declared he would ask the DOJ to investigate Epstein’s ties with Democrats, including Bill Clinton, Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman. Interestingly, Trump also referred to the “Epstein situation” as a “scam”.
