The head of the Dwight D Eisenhower Presidential Library has stepped down following a dispute with the White House regarding presenting a sword from its archives to King Charles, based on news sources.

Todd Arrington, who headed the institution in Kansas, stepped down on the start of the week after rejecting to remove an original sword from the archive's items to present to the monarch during President Donald Trump's tour to the Britain recently, it was reported.

The King was rather presented with a copy during the official tour, Buckingham Palace announced.

"The instruction was to 'Leave - or be terminated'," he stated in an interview.

"Reportedly, they felt I could no longer be relied upon with private matters," the official told the outlet, saying the sensitive matter was related to the artifact conflict and an different topic.

Government representatives were attempting to gift an presidential saber to underscore the importance of the transatlantic alliance after WWII, but Arrington rejected and stated they could not donate an item that was accepted as a donation, reports stated.

Reports indicated it was unclear who specifically requested the saber to give to the monarch.

The director reportedly proposed to attempt to locate a alternative present, such as a copy, but representatives continued to ask for the authentic artifact.

Finally, the president and First Lady Melania Trump donated the King a copy of one of Eisenhower's swords at the castle in the fall. They also gave the Queen a Tiffany & Co classic precious metal, diamond and precious stone accessory.

This incident resulted in White House staff being unhappy with Arrington, based on information.

He challenged that he had uttered disparaging statements about Trump and his team.

"That is 100% incorrect," he stated to sources. "I did not express a bad word about any person. I spoke with staff about attempting to locate a saber or item, an item we could donate to them for the president to give to the King, and at no time did I criticize anybody."

The presidential archive has a number of swords from the leader in its collection, including a blade and a ceremonial sword shown in a present exhibition. The president, who was the leader from 1953 to 1961, served as the top leader of the Allies in the continent during World War II.

Arrington had been acting as head of the institution since recently. It is among 16 presidential libraries in the US that are managed by the federal archive.

The head of archives is in charge of appointing archive heads, and the presidential administration does not have a say in the staff changes of these employees.

Arrington stated to outlets that he hoped to return to his position.

"I would come back immediately," he said. "I love the position, I love the colleagues, I love the heritage. I never in a million years hoped for this to occur."
