Peaky Blinders Ready to Make a Comeback with a Next Generation on the Small Screen
Peaky Blinders is making a comeback to chronicle the exploits of a next wave of the Shelby dynasty after WWII.
The final broadcast season, which was shown in 2022, was promoted as the "conclusion of a legendary tale", even though producers noted the plot would "continue in another form".
A forthcoming Peaky Blinders film, beginning during the war, will showcase the acclaimed actor stepping back into his part as head of the family the protagonist.
That movie will then lead into another two seasons, which "will be set in Birmingham and will depict the story of a metropolis rebuilding of the Birmingham blitz", writer the series creator stated. "The next wave of the family have taken over and it will be a incredible experience."
The New Plot
The show will begin in the post-war era, when "the race to own the major urban renewal becomes a fierce battle of legendary scale", as announced.
"This is a city of unmatched potential and peril: with the Shelby organization deeply embedded in the conflict."
The show will be broadcast on a major network in the Britain and on a streaming service around the world.
The star will be one of the executive producers, although it was not disclosed whether any characters from the earlier seasons would return on screen.
Peaky Blinders premiered in 2013, and has so far chronicled the street gang through the interwar period. It received best drama at the British television awards in 2018.
The story will shift to the 1940s for the cinematic story, called the feature, which will include Cillian Murphy with Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan, seasoned performer a British star and the actress Rebecca Ferguson.
