Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Arrives, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a special Nintendo Direct that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will propel Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Beloved Titles
Much like the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The feature will feature once again of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Significant Period for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release close to the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
