The carrier is introducing free quick onboard connectivity via satellite deal

Flyers flying with the airline can soon use quick internet onboard at no cost following a new deal with SpaceX's space provider.

No-cost and Fast Internet Available to Everyone

British Airways announced that the no-cost, “fast and dependable” internet provision from SpaceX becomes available to travelers in economy, premium economy, or premium cabins starting next month.

Expanded Deployment Throughout Multiple Flight Operators

The parent organization of the airline, International Airlines Group, stated it had finalized an deal with Starlink to offer connectivity services across 500-plus jets within the group's operators, including Aer Lingus, Iberia, plus the low-cost airline.

Smooth Wifi from Gate through Landing

BA noted that this introduction of the system was part of a multi-billion pound “transformation” plan and would offer smooth internet service to passengers from the gate to arrival, including when they are flying over oceans or remote regions.

Customers will be able to link several devices and won't need to need a separate login.

Current Connectivity Offerings

Limited wifi access remains available for British Airways travelers on nearly all of the airline's planes via their .air platform.

Participants in the airline's frequent flyer program are able to transmit texts and text-based messages onboard without paying, while flyers who want to watch audio, movies, or movies on the journey and are not flying in first class can expect to pay between £4.99 and £21.99 for one wifi package.

The provider maintains a constellation of many thousands with orbiting devices and is operated under SpaceX’s aerospace firm.

Latest Improvements for the Airline

BA's leadership have been striving to improve operations back following a period with cost cutting, technology issues, industrial action, plus staff cuts.

British Airways stated that application with smart technology had helped it to bring its on-time performance at the best levels since over a decade ago.

Profit Results

In August, the carrier announced a jump in financial performance for the first six months of the year, contributing to the parent company results to grow.
